Safety Tips: Emergency drill

Some of you reading this will be asking what “Emergency drill” is all about, while majority of you are aware of the term “Emergency drill”. Before I define the term “Emergency drill”, let me tell you a story.
A colleague told me he was educating his family on some vital safety tips and he decided to conduct an “Emergency drill”, at home, the response he got was panic and pandemonium everywhere in the house. But after a couple of rehearsals, they got use to it.
The term “Emergency drill”, could be defined as a routine exercise of how a building would be evacuated in the event of a fire outbreak or other emergency conditions. Normally, the fire alarm system in the building is triggered and the building is evacuated as if the emergency had occurred. The time it takes to evacuate the building is usually noted to ensure that it occurs within a reasonable length of time, and glitches with the emergency system or evacuation processes are acknowledged to be resolved.

“Emergency drill” is usually conducted in schools, offices, etc., but we can also make it as a habit to be conducting it in our homes so as to sensitize other family members as well.
