Yusuf Haliru of the Federal High Court in Abuja has instructed the EFCC and
Nigerian Army to free former President Goodluck Jonathan's Aide-de-Camp, Col.
Ojogbane Adegbe on liberal terms. Adegbe had in a fundamental rights
enforcement suit filed before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory
(FCT) in Gudu on February 25th, 2016 contended that he has been in EFCC custody
since February 11th, 2016 and has not been charged with any offence.
Justice
Yusuf Halilu while conveying judgement on the suit this today, March 1st,
2016 instructed EFCC to free Adegbe awaiting his arraignment before a competent
court.The judge held that Adegbe's continued incarceration is unlawful as it infringes Section 35 of the 1999 Constitution. Adegbe was invited from the UK where he was by the Nigerian Army to answer some questions connecting to the $2.1 billion arms deal scam.
