Senate
President Bukola Saraki's trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal recommenced
today April 5, 2016. At the hearing, the tribunal discarded an application by
Saraki asking for the case to be postponed so he can make further legal
consultation on the matter.
Justice Danladi Umar, the tribunal chairman, ruled against his application, maintaining that the trial begins straightway. The first witness has been called in to testify against Saraki.
Saraki is standing trial for purported false declaration of asset while he was governor of Kwara state.
